I’ve purchased 45 pairs of vortex 8x42 diamondback for ornithology. Solid binocular that provides very clear and sharp images. They also hold up well to college student abuse, which may or may not be similar to k-12 wear and tear:) The key is that they 100% provide exceptional warranty service. If you get these you won’t have to buy more in the future.
It’s a very good binocular for the price. Also, you get a discount from B&H photo if it’s an educational purchase.

Good morning, club,
I am interested in knowing opinions about binoculars for a student group of young teenagers; they need to be decent, sturdy, and affordable. I see Cornell recommends Opticron Oregon 4 PC Oasis 8×42 as their top budget set, but these might be out of budget. If there is anything that, in your experience, is good enough but cheaper, I would like to know.
Brownie points if you have purchased these to be used by a wide set of people, and not just one careful person, and you had good results.
