Marbled Murrelet (Brachyramphus marmoratus) (1) CONFIRMED
- Reported Dec 02, 2025 08:47 by Tom Edell
- San Simeon Creek Mouth/Beach, San Luis Obispo, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-121.1267052&<ll...>,-121.1267052 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S287098326 - Comments: "I spotted this distant bird as it swam south inside a line of bull kelp. It was in and out of view between ocean swells. Its small size was most apparent when it swam by a Western Grebe which was considerably taller and longer bodied that the murrelet. Given the short views and distance the most notable features I was able to see were the white collar, white face below the eye and dark above, and the dark extending from the crown down the nape. I could see some white in the wing, but never saw it long enough to tell the shape or position on the wing. It was otherwise dark above and white below."
