If you are referring to the Warbling Vireo (hard to be sure in this reply
to the digest), yes, the song is the easiest way to distinguish the two
species. And distribution is very helpful in much of the two species's
range, but not everywhere in CO and less during migration periods.

This was covered a fair amount on CoBirds when the split was announced, and
some info can be found in the archives.
