There were two squabbling Tropical Kingbirds at the Bird Refuge this morning. There was also a presumed female Iceland (Thayer's) Gull-- it was really petite with a very small bill. A Western Gull went for it and nearly had it for breakfast. At the Music Academy there was a Nashville Warbler in tipus. In the tipus at the Dwight Murphy fields car park was a Tennessee Warbler. Note that the car park and fields are closed, but you can still see the tipus from the road.
Yesterday at Elings Park there were 4 Horned Larks. Bohnett Park had the continuing Western (presumed) Warbling Vireo and Wilson's Warbler.
A couple of weeks ago I birded More Mesa at dusk, and Mark Bright was there yesterday evening. We saw no owls and no harriers.
Pre and post rains, I've birded the Arroyo Burro Open Space, Arroyo Burro Creek (downcreek of the Calle De Los Amigos bridge), Chase Palm Park, Oak Park, Evergreen Park, and Bella Vista Park, with little to show for my efforts. My impression is that bird numbers are down, especially warblers and sparrows.
