On my usual morning, skywatch, I just had close to 300 high-flying geese
over Albany, heading west southwest, plus another sizable flock I heard but
couldn’t get eyes on. There were 3 main groups visible, with 2 to 5 skeins
of geese in each. For those I saw and by calls, the vast majority were
Greater White-fronted Geese with perhaps some Cackling mixed in.
I’m copying the SF list, in case these continue westward, or if this is a
wider trend for today.
At least where I am, there’s been lots of flyover activity generally, with
flickers, American Goldfinches, cormorants and amazingly, 4 Northern
Shovelers.
