Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Kentucky warbler 9:40 a.m. update, new location
At 9:35 the Kentucky warbler picked up and flew North past the tower with the spiral staircase and indeed onto the peninsulas and fingers of nice habitat that are in the middle of the pond complex. Lots and lots and lots of habitat here it could hide in. The good news is the bird is calling periodically so learn what the rich deep chip note sounds like and that would be a way to find it. I suppose the following plea will be in vain, but it would be nice if people did not blast recordings at this bird and instead just be patient and work the areas and listen for it. There is an excellent chance given the late date that it's going to try to winter here, especially given the nice habitat for it, so it'd be nice if it wasn't overly harassed.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
