We just had a visit from a Northern Pygmy Owl in our backyard (Mesa County, Grand Junction/Fruita). It landed in a tree with a meal (probably a sparrow) and stayed long enough for us to get several photos (iphone through a spotting scope).
This is a first for us - we've never heard their call here.
