Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] another returning Painted Redstart, Point Loma miscellanea
The second returning Painted Redstart of the season is back in the county, also for its second winter. This bird is in Mission Valley behind 1550 Hotel Circle North, which is a private office building. Given that the redstart and all birds are at the opposite end of the parking lot from the building, this shouldn't be a problem, though obviously good behavior is warranted. Everything is along the north edge of the parking lot, bordering the Riverwalk Golf Course, and the redstart typically prefers the northeast corner of the parking lot. However, both last year and today, I saw it fly well inside the large apartment complex to the east, where there are courtyards with plenty of sycamore trees--and where we best stay out of. So, the bird can take a while to find and it can be missed.

Earlier this morning, in the general Silvergate neighborhood in residential Point Loma, there was a Clay-colored Sparrow, continuing Black-and-white Warbler, Wilson's Warbler, and male "Slate-colored" Junco. And at the southeast corner of Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery there was a female-type Summer Tanager.

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
