Tropical Kingbird (Tyrannus melancholicus) (1)
- Reported Nov 19, 2025 08:50 by Barbara Millett
- UCSB North Campus Open Space (formerly Ocean Meadows Golf Course), Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-119.8792197&<ll...>,-119.8792197 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S285222329 - Media: 2 Photos
- Comments: "Seen on north side of Venoco Rd., west of slough. Kingbird with bright yellow belly & yellow extending up to breast. Long bill compared to Cassin's KB, dark mask through eye, and notched tail. Behaving aggressively towards Cassin's Kingbird. I saw this Tropical KB at 9:30, then later at 11:30 I heard repeated twittering call of a Tropical KB at Whittier Pond. Not sure if these represent the same bird, or if there are two."

These are 2 places where they have been seen in previous years. One had remnant breast streaks. These 3 were viewed through a spotting scope. 3 others we did not see well were small sparrows with the Chipping Sparrows."
