Hi Everyone!
Today, Edward Rooks, Amanda Newlove and I led a field trip at the Harvey-Bear entrance to Coyote Lake CP. We had a very nice morning with our two main target birds: *Loggerhead Shrikes* and *Yellow-billed Magpies*. Raptors put on a nice show for us. We had a few *Red-tailed Hawks*, 1 *Northern Harrier*, a couple of *Red-shouldered Hawks*, *White-tailed Kites*, *Cooper's Hawks* and 3 *American Kestrels*. At one point, one of the Kestrels flew by with a small rodent in its talons. The bird was being chased by both a Red-tailed Hawk and a Cooper's Hawk - a favorite moment for many of us. We didn't see a lot of *Savannah Sparrows* which I expected but we did see a *Phainopepla*, a nice view of a *Lincoln's Sparrow*, 1 *Chipping Sparrow* and a surprise wintering *Grasshopper Sparrow*. You can see the approximate locations in the ebird report.
