Hi Everyone,
We're going to have some zoom meetings, open to everyone interested, approximately monthly, usually on Thursday evenings at 7 pm, starting in December.
Our first speaker is Dr. Sarah Sargent, who will present "Erie Bird Observatory: keeping tabs on birds in northwestern Pennsylvania" on December 11th at 7 pm.
I am personally excited to hear her talk about all of the waterfowl and migratory bird monitoring that they have been doing at what I consider to be the most spectacular area for shoreline migration and waterbird watching in our state.
Dr. Sarah Sargent has spent over 35 years working on avian ecology and conservation. In 2018 she co-founded Erie Bird Observatory and served as its Executive Director until 2025. Prior to that she spent over 10 years with Audubon Pennsylvania (the state office of National Audubon Society) developing and implementing bird conservation programs in northwestern Pennsylvania. She previously conducted research on frugivory and seed dispersal by birds in South Carolina and Costa Rica. Her educational background includes a BA in Biology from Swarthmore College, and MS and PhD degrees in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Cornell University. As an undergraduate, she spent a semester as an intern at Manomet Bird Observatory, a formative experience leading her to a lifetime of studying birds. She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Association of Field Ornithologists and the Ornithological Technical Committee of the PA Biological Survey.
All of the meetings are free and the registration is quick through the links provided below.
