This email’s coming out a little later than I planned, but since we don’t have any bird walks on the schedule this weekend, maybe that actually works out. If you’re still looking to get out and do something birdie, the markets have us covered — and we could definitely use some hands this weekend, so consider this your gentle-but-slightly-panicked nudge.
Saturday: Troy Farmers Market (9–2)
Kevin McGrath is running point at the Troy Atrium. If you’ve ever seen Kevin in action, you know he’s great at pulling people over with humor and quick one-liners.
We’re looking for 2–3 volunteers for this one — ideally one for the morning, one for the afternoon, or a couple of people who can tag-team a few hours each.
It’s super easy: smile, talk about birds, hand someone a brochure, repeat. Setup is basically already done.
Sunday: Schenectady Green Market (10–2) City Hall area
I’ll be at this one. It’s still outside, and it’s the last outdoor market before they move indoors for winter. Schenectady provides the table, tent, and chairs.
We urgently need 2–3 volunteers here as well — one in the morning, one in the afternoon, or anyone who wants to split a shift.
Setup takes about 45 seconds: toss on the tablecloth, hang the banner from whichever corner seems willing, and you’re good.
Looking ahead:
We could use folks for these dates too — early sign-ups very welcome:
• Schenectady Green Market (inside) — Sunday, Dec. 14 (10–2)
• Troy Market (inside) — Saturday, Dec. 27 (9–2)
If you’re helping with setup, showing up about 15 minutes early is perfect — mostly just to find our spot and settle in. The actual setup takes basically no time.
I know this is a little last-minute, but if you’ve helped before — or if you’re new and want to dip a toe into outreach without a huge commitment — we’d really love to have you. Anyone’s welcome. And truly, even one more volunteer per day makes a huge difference.

Getting responses by Wednesday would help a lot so we’re not flying blind into the weekend.
