Even though the water is drained out of the ponds behind Valley Water Headquarters, it is still birdy! We lucked out with zero rain and had a great group of photographers and birders who enjoyed seeing 41 species. The highlights were 3 WILSON'S SNIPES by the small puddle that remains in the pond and a large flock of CEDAR WAXWINGS feasting on the toyon berries and filling the air with their high pitched "eeeeeeee" calls. We also had several of our wintering species like HERMIT THRUSH, LINCOLN'S SPARROW, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, and brief views of a RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER. Special thanks to Shrav and Sreedhara for co-leading and sharing all their photography wisdom!
Note: On my scouting mission on 11/14 I found a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW mingling with the Golden and White crowns. Not re-found during our photowalk but maybe it's around there somewhere.
