Subject: [SFBirds] Northern Waterfront Local Interest - from Rusty Blackbird to Bullock's Oriole this week
While nothing can match last Monday's 15 minute appearance of a RUSTY BLACKBIRD at Fort Mason (first City of San Francisco record), there have been other sightings of birds that would be considered uncommon or rare if they stay until the Christmas Bird Count. A NASHVILLE WARBLER (presumably the same one seen three times in October) was spotted on Tuesday and Friday. There may have been two on Friday (seen in Battery and behind the General's Residence). A LINCOLN'S SPARROW was there on Wednesday, and a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was seen Sunday and Friday. Today the continuing male BULLOCK'S ORIOLE that I haven't seen since October 24th (although others have) was on the west fence of the Community Garden. Meanwhile, a NORTHERN YELLOW WARBLER was in the willows on the west side of Crissy Lagoon on Tuesday, and the two GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE that have been hanging around CANADA GEESE (and often a single CACKLING GOOSE) since early October, and show no signs of leaving.
