Subject: [OrangeCountyBirding] pine warbler
We walked in a light rain at Good Shepherd cemetery in Huntington Beach
this afternoon, which is why I left my camera in the car. Needless to say,
that proved to be a mistake, as I happened upon the dullest immature female
Pine Warbler I've ever seen. It was in a couple cedar (?) trees (with
flattened foliage) near a white bench and a row of blooming hibiscus
shrubs. It was very pishable and came in close enough to see a very pale
wash of yellow on the throat and breast. The auriculars were a well-defined
gray with a slightly darker spot at their lowest point, and vague streaks
were present along the sides of the breast. When I later returned with my
camera, the flock it was with (mainly Yellow-rumpeds) had dispersed and I
didn't refind it.
