18 new species were added, tied with 2006 for the most number of new species in October, bringing us to 295 species for the year. Because the year was slow earlier, we are now third in species seen by the end of October. A Eurasian Skylark (under review by the California Rare Birds Committee) is a first for San Francisco. The other new species were Cocos Booby, Great Crested Flycatcher, Townsend's Solitaire, Yellow-green Vireo, Virginia's Warbler, Blue-headed Vireo, Vermillion Flycatcher, Horned Lark, Lapland Longspur, Common Poorwill, Long-eared Owl, Tropical Kingbird, Cassin's Finch, Scarlet Tanager, Canada Warbler, Northern Fulmar and Brewer's Sparrow.
