The third annual Cuyama Winter Bird Survey will take place on January 24-25, 2026. Please let me know if you plan to participate by email (direct - do not reply all) or on slack. Feel free to indicate any particular site(s) you'd like to cover.
The winter bird survey offers the chance to contribute to our knowledge of the avifauna of Cuyama Valley and its environs; the camraderie that goes with a collective effort like this; and some birds that are hard to get elsewhere in the county. Highlights from previous surveys include Sagebrush Sparrow, California Condor, Sage Thrasher, Black-throated Sparrow, Brewer's Sparrow, and heaps of Horned Larks and Mountain Bluebirds.
