Observation start time: 09:00:00 Observation end time: 15:00:00 Total observation time: 6 hours
Official Counter: John Mercer
Observers: Bob Kelly
Visitors: Another wedding in the Gazebo today.
Weather: Partly or mostly cloudy all day, temperatures in the 50's almost reaching 60, but South winds 12 to 16 mph kept it feeling very cool.
Raptor Observations: A low count, winds were discouraging the birds thus what did migrate was low and in slow motion as they battled the headwinds. Usual locals: TV, RT, CH, RS, BV and BE. A Sharp shinned Hawk came up with a few TV, kept getting pushed North until it gave up and dropped into the trees. I counted it anyway since most likely no one will be there to catch it as it tries again tomorrow.
Non-raptor Observations: SSW winds stink, figuratively and literally. They hold back birds from our count and this time of year waft the odor of ripe Ginko fruit over the watch. Two Double-crested Cormorant powered though, but had to circle around at one point to find a less windy path.
Predictions: As of now, no one is scheduled and the car show will make it difficult to hold the count. West winds aren't very promising anyway. ======================================================================== Report submitted by John Mercer (<mercer1135...>) Rose Tree Park information may be found at: https://bcdelco.org/activities/rose-tree-park-hawkwatch/
