Hi Folks,
The COA Workshop Committee invites you to join us for an Advanced Level Workshop on the topic of “Avian Hybrids and Subspecies Occurring in Connecticut: A Discussion on Taxonomy and Birding”. The Workshop will be led by two of our local birders, Nick Bonomo and Aidan Kiley. If you’ve wondered about things like the finer field marks that denote the difference between a Cory’s Shearwater (Calonectris borealis) and the recently split Scopoli’s Shearwater (Calonectris diomedea), the many Red-tailed Hawk subspecies, or why some hybrids are more common than others, this is the workshop for you. Our two presenters will be giving insight into species such as the Blue-winged x Golden-winged Warbler (Brewster’s and Lawrence’s), Gull hybrids, Short-billed Dowitcher, Willet, and more.
This workshop will be geared towards intermediate to expert birders and ornithologists, but is open to anyone who would like to further their knowledge about the avian world!
We are 10 days out on the workshop and we have about 12 spots left. Please visit the events tab on the COA website and sign up for this advanced level presentation and discussion of hybrids and subspecies.
