Subject: [SanDiegoRegionBirding] Nemesis Bird
I’ve been birding in SoCal since the late 1980s. I have 341 species on my CA list but I do not have Ridgeways Rail!!  I have gone to San Elijo Lagoon and San Diego River mudflats numerous times. I have even played the call on Merlin.
This bird shows up on my eBird Needs List every day!  At this point I feel like eBird is trolling me and the bird is a mythical creature.
IF you have ticked this bird recently, please reply with SPECIFICS.  For instance, San Elijo is a big place. Where exactly should I focus my attention?
I play to drive down to Tijuana Slough tomorrow as it has been reported there a lot lately, too.
I’d rather finally get this local resident bird on my life list than chase some rarity.
tips and encouragement please!

The monthly meetings of San Diego Field Ornithologists (SDFO) are currently virtual, open only to members, at 6pm on the third Tuesday of every month.

Two notable on-line resources are available for San Diego birders: the San Diego County Bird Atlas by Phil Unitt (2004) - http://sdplantatlas.org/BirdAtlas/BirdPages.aspx ; and an update of notable records for San Diego County (2002–present), compiled by Paul Lehman - https://bvaudubon.org/birding-resources/ .
