Weather:
Mostly sunny with a strong breeze from the west that required birders to
anchor down their scopes. Wind direction shifting to the northwest at
times. Temperatures ranging from 34 °F to 41 °F.

Raptor Observations:
The first migrant of November was a beautiful adult red-shoulder flying
sideways through the breeze over Pack. It was followed by a steady push of
migrants including a few more red-shoulders, some red-tails, and a couple
of Bald Eagles. During the 11 o'clock hour, a distant Golden Eagle went by.
Then during the 4 o'clock hour, Glen Chretien spotted a second Golden
Eagle, an immature that landed in the trees on North Pack to escape the
ravens.

Non-raptor Observations:
It was an exciting day for non-raptor sightings as well. Seven lovely
Evening Grosbeaks flew low by the hawkwatch, a Savannah Sparrow came in for
birdseed, a Ring-billed Gull drifted by in front of North Pack, and
multiple flocks of Brant migrated overhead. Many juncos, some Purple
Finches, two White-throated Sparrows, and one Pine Siskin were also seen.

Predictions:
Tomorrow also looks good for migration. Similar weather conditions are
expected, with perhaps a lighter breeze.
