Subject: [CT Birds] Community garden harvest - final results
For me, what was most enjoyable were the amazing sunrises, with
the fields often cloaked in morning fog until the sun broke the horizon. I
really enjoy getting out early as so much is moving around predawn, and
this community garden harvest challenge just gave me another reason to do
so at Allen's Meadow. I did not have any particularly unusual sightings,
but same as Chuck I had a Wilson's Snipe in the mowed grass fields one
morning which was probably the most unexpected species, although on my
radar as I scanned the fields early mornings before the foot traffic began.
I'd say my big misses were Winter Wren and Belted Kingfisher- usually
hearing them well before seeing. Congrats to all who participated in this
casual and fun event!

> Once again, Allen‘s Meadows is the winner of the community garden harvest
> contest…congratulations to the Allen’s birders!!
> No matter what place your hotspot landed, I hope birders enjoyed ‘patch
> birding’. It helps you learn the best spots to bird within an area, allows
> you to tune into the pulse of birds through season changes, and encourages

> My favorite bird this past week was an unusually cooperative Wilson’s
