Tropical Kingbirds often head north in post-breeding dispersal before
heading south for the winter. It's normal. They are rare, of course, but
not so rare as to grab a lot of attention; most birders have seen one
outside their range. There's one up in Humboldt/Trinity/Del Norte County
right now (I forget which).
