Weather: Cloudy, occasional snowand grapple showers, wind NNW to 40 mph, waves 5’ to 6’, temp. 37 F.
Comments: Strong gusty winds keptmost birds close to the water with a lot of short bursts of flight since theywere flying west-northwest into the wind. Scaup and Red-breasted Mergansers dominated the flight, but there was astrong movement of White-winged Scoters. Even after examining images I took of the scaup flying past they weredifficult to ID and sort out the two species, though both were present with theoccasional Ring-necked Duck or two in the mix.
