Sunset Bird Count at Sayer's Dam

Trip Leader: Joe Gyekis

Meet for bird watching at Sayer's Dam at the northeastern end of Bald Eagle State Park. We will meet at the PFC Foster Joseph Sayers Statue and War Memorial. If the birding is busy at the dam, we will stay there, if not, we will walk half a mile down to a small wetland nearby (see map https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fmaps%2Fdir%2FPFC%2BFoster%2BJoseph%2BSayers%2BStatue%2Band%2BWar%2BMemorial%2C%2BFoster%2BJoseph%2BSayers%2BLake%2C%2BCentre%2BCounty%2C%2BPA%2C%2BHoward%2C%2BPA%2B16841%2F41.0517848%2C-77.6211625%<2F...>%2C-77.6231274%2C1389m%2Fdata%3D!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m9!4m8!1m5!1m1!1s0x89ce93acc759870f%3A0x1d54b358a3cf6014!2m2!1d-77.6149699!2d41.0507522!1m0!3e2%3Fentry%3Dttu%26g_ep%3DEgoyMDI1MDgxMS4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%253D%253D&data=05%7C02%<7Cscbirdcl...>%7Ccd8cebd6f0bd4e4deae708de17c725d4%7C7cf48d453ddb4389a9c1c115526eb52e%7C0%7C0%7C638974341256817996%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDA!

Bald Eagle State Park

Trip Leader: Bob Snyder

We will meet at the Swimming Beach at Bald Eagle State Park and visit various locations around the main park area including the beach, winter launch, the Sunken Road Overlook. Additional possible locations will be a drive to the top of the dam for a short walk down the service road to view Hunter's Cove and the emergency spillway marsh at the dam.

We will be looking for waterfowl on the lake and also hope to find winter birds such as Northern Shrike, Snow Buntings, American Pipits and American Tree Sparrows.

Please consider the weather and wear appropriate cold weather gear and sturdy boots. An orange vest is also recommended. Binoculars, spotting scopes and cameras are also encouraged.

This field trip is open to members and non-members.
