- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-119.84975&<ll...>,-119.84975 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S282250560 - Comments: "This Continuing bird was seen from here 34.44034° N, 119.84929° W. I spotted it from the dirt path below the dam. I was looking north across the lake into a little cove. The American bittern was tucked in the reeds and was nearly invisible standing stock still with its bill pointed to the sky a good share of the time. It was a beefy bittern with a boldly striped neck and there was no pattern on its wings. I didn’t hear it vocalize or fly while I was there. I called a larger group of birders over from the concrete path before it turns to go by the dam and got them on the bird. They all saw it and one nice local birder got me on the tropical kingbird that was about 30’ away. Will post pics when I get home"

It was perched in a tree sitting about 25 yards east of the American bittern. This bird was pointed out to be by a local SB birder group by a gentleman w marks group. Sorry I forgot his name! This bird appeared other than the cassins kingbirds that were prevalent around the lake and had a longer, beefier bill as well. Its tail was light brown and had a slight fork at the tip. It had a vibrant yellow belly that extended pretty far up onto the chest where it became over so slightly lighter. . Cassins heads were darker as well . I saw this bird again later in the afternoon and got a closer look, saw it in flight and recorded it vocalizing. Its wings were short and rounded maybe slightly smaller wings than those of the cassins and more yellow under the wings. I’ll post pics when I get home"
