Thanks Melissa for the correction. I should have listened to Mike Rogers
who quickly caught this. The bird was quite distant and mud prevented me
from getting closer. Still, a year bird for me.
I too, had just one GREAT TAILED GRACKLE and heard a sapsucker.
Approximately 20 AM.WHITE PELICANS loafed near the island. Twenty
WILSON'S SNIPE were hiding out toward the grassy area near the kingbird.
My favorite bird was a very green Gray headed ORANGE CROWNED WARBLER
with a soft chip call opposite the marina. I had HAIRY, DOWNY, NUTTALL'S
WOODPECKERS and a NO. FLICKER in a birdy area across from the water park
office.
Another unusual sighting were two JUNGLE FOWL near the White Road
entrance. Apparently they are resident birds that have been seen for years.
Do not disclose information that identifies the location of nesting birds of any species, to minimize stress on the nesting birds and the risk of vandalism or abuse.
