Subject: [sbcobirding] More on Common Grackle
Patience is the word but when it's in a viewable area of the feed lot, the Common Grackle does stand out with its larger size, longer tail with broad tip, larger bill, and purple sheen to the head in certain light.  It tends to hang out near the water trough as reported; also the thin silvery pipe that runs along the ground to the trough and the various hay piles, but could be anywhere.  Many pairs of searching eyes are also helpful.
I understand Wes Fritz has posted more helpful hints on locating the bird in SLACK.
Great find, Nick!  Thanks for sharing.
Florence Sanchez
