Subject: [CT Birds] Coastal Center
11/5 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center. 9:35am-1PM. High
tide-receding, 55-60F, overcast.
On the grounds: Very birdy at the center today with a noisy flock of about
250 Starlings flying around and in the trees with about 10 Monk parakeets
and 2 Red winged blackbirds mixed in. About 25 Robins, 14 Mourning doves,
15 Yellow rumped warblers, 1 female Purple finch at the water fountain,18
House finches, with Song, White throated and House sparrows and Cardinals
drinking and bathing. One male House finch had a badly infected left eye
and a female House finch had some yellow feathering by the upper mandible.
1 Flicker, 3 Red bellied woodpeckers, 1 Yellow bellied sapsucker, 1 Downy,
and a Northern Harrier fly by, 2 Mockingbirds, 3 Titmice, 2 White breasted
nuthatches.
On the marsh: 2 Fly-by D.C. Cormorants, 20 American Black ducks, 53 Canada
Geese, 5 Gadwall, and 5 Ring billed gulls and 1 Herring gull.
