10/29 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center 9:30am-1PM . overcast, mid-tide receding, 54F. Very busy at the center today with class visits and regular visitors. Class visits were on the inside, on the marsh and sanctuary grounds. On the marsh: 12 American Black ducks, 1 Great Egret, 2 mallards, 2 Mute swans, 27 Brant, 8 Canada Geese and several gulls foraging. On the grounds & feeders: 4 Hermit Thrushes (2 were caught inside fencing surrounding recently planted trees)- but I got them out, 1 Golden Crowned kinglet foraging right above my head in a cedar tree, 6 House finches, 5 Robins, 3 Blue Jays, 12 Yellow rumped warblers at the fountain, 2 Tufted titmice, 2 Catbirds, 16 Mourning doves- (at feeders), 1 Cedar waxwing, and a mixed sparrow flock along paved road (1 Field sparrow, 1 Chipping sparrow, 3 Song, 8 White throated) and about 10 House sparrows at feeders.
