12 birders were rewarded for braving the cold and overcast skies today during the Santa Clara Valley Bird Alliance’s slow birding trip led by Susan Tenney and myself at CVOSP as part of SCVBA’s final Centennial weekend and the national Birdability Week. This 0.5 mile round trip was filled to the brim with Western Meadowlark songs, multiple American Kestrel sightings, and seemingly limitless views of the Yellow-Billed Magpies. And if that wasn’t enough, the group was surprised by a Merlin, two Golden Eagles, and a pack of wild pigs running across the (thankfully far) hillside. What a morning!Â
