Subject: [CT Birds] Friday and Saturday at Lighthouse Point Park
Today's hawk count at Lighthouse Point Park was a tenfold increase from
yesterday's. Friday we tallied 32 raptors from 8 species (turkey vulture,
bald eagle, Northern harrier, sharpie, Cooper's, red-shouldered,
red-tailed, merlin) . Today we rang in over 350 sightings, adding osprey,
broad-winged and peregrine to the species list. Cooper's and sharp-shinned
hawks ruled the morning with a bonus broad-winged hawk. The afternoon
brought more buteos (red-tailed, red-shouldered) and over 150 turkey
vultures. The birds were distant in the afternoon, but clouds were
welcome. The big treat of the afternoon was a flyover white pelican!!
Many thanks for great eyes and assistance today!
