Gray Catbird (Dumetella carolinensis) (1)
- Reported Oct 22, 2025 07:18 by John Callender
- Lake Los Carneros Park, Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-119.84975&<ll...>,-119.84975 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S280826644 - Comments: "Continuing in the area between Stow House and the railroad museum. Seen briefly but well through binoculars at a distance of about 20 feet, a medium-sized slate-gray bird with a black cap and a dark beak that in shape and size was similar to that of a Northern Mockingbird. When I saw it the bird was skulking in thick vegetation near the ground. Then it flew low across the lawn to a new clump of vegetation, from which location I twice heard it give its characteristic "mew" vocalization. I was unable to refind the bird visually or photograph it, unfortunately."
