Maybe there are two. Been thinking this for a while now. Couldn’t get pics of the second, which was more yellowy to me. But maybe was just the light and shadows and a well-traveled individual. Lucy's Warbler (Leiothlypis luciae) (1) CONFIRMED
- Reported Oct 22, 2025 10:13 by Mike Bush
- Morro Creek mouth, San Luis Obispo, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.8624411&<ll...>,-120.8624411
- Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S280864059
- Media: 3 Photos
- Comments: "This bird appeared to be with a flock of Bushtits. It was feeding in fennel across the creek when first seen and spent a lot of time in the second tier of vegetation making them difficult to view and photograph. It was first noticed because of its plumper shape and paler gray upper parts compared to the Bushtits. Better views showed the most striking feature was the whitish eyering (it appears less prominent in the photos), but also seen were its sharper and pointed dark bill and cream colored underparts. One photo shows its pale lores; we never saw the rump or any rust coloration on the crown (though one photo may show a rusty streak on the crown). It soon disappeared into the willows with the bushtit flock and could not be coaxed out. (Photos)"
