Ahead of the newsletter announcement, the LOS Winter Meeting is scheduled for January 23-25, 2026, in Shreveport. The Friday night speaker will be Paul Dickson, and Saturday we will enjoy a presentation by Kenn Kaufman.
Events
All evening events during the Winter Meeting will be on the campus of LSU-Shreveport. The University Center Ballroom (Room UC 206) will be the base for the weekend. An elevator is available for persons not wishing to climb the stairs. Paul Dickson's presentation on Friday night will be in the ballroom, and Kenn Kaufman's presentation on Saturday night will be in the theatre on the first floor of the University Center.
Lodging
LOS has reserved a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn Express South Shreveport, 8751 Park Plaza, just minutes away from LSUS. Rooms with a single king bed are $144.00/night plus taxes/fees, while rooms with two queen beds are $149.00/night plus taxes/fees.
A limited number of rooms are also available at the group rate for Thursday night and Sunday night.
The room block will be held until 1 January, 2026.

The hotel is not the least expensive in Shreveport, but is convenient to the Red River Wildlife NWR and LSUS. Our friends at the Shreveport Bird Study Group have assured us that you do not really want to stay at cheaper places near the airport or downtown for security reasons.
