Hi all,
A little after 1700, the Clay-colored Sparrow was foraging on the lawn, behind the amphitheater, north of the fenceline (33.7029831, -118.0023989). It was foraging amongst a large group of White-crowned Sparrows, hunkering lower into the grass but unbothered.
Additional news - the park has the Scout’s event this weekend and their tents are currently set up on the main lawn, north of the Island. I believe there is also a cultural event being held at the Bandstand as well with tables being set up.
Finally, it saddens me to have to report that the Island looks to have been cleared of the dried grasses along the edges, exposing the bathing spot on the NE corner …
