10/16 Durham YardHave not seen Bluebirds in 3 months. They regularly breed in nest box- only 1 pair this year.Yesterday, it was as if filming West Side Story here.Looked out kitchen window and there were 7 Bluebirds going in and out of the 2 nest boxes. Then 6 English Sparrows arrived and there were "words". Chasing each other.Sparrows took over one nest box and kept going after the Bluebirds.Lasted all of 50 mins and all dispersed. Why the Bluebirds all the sudden? Aren't they permanent residents? After insects in boxes?Help please. But 7 gorgeous Bluebirds Ps Phoebe still here Nancy MorandDurham, Ct
