Observation start time: 09:00:00 Observation end time: 15:00:00 Total observation time: 6 hours
Official Counter: Phil Keener
Observers: Ken Orvis, Randy Phillips
Visitors: 8
Weather: Temp = 11-15C, consistent WNW to NW winds with occasional strong gusts, Cloud cover 80 -100%, breaking up as watch was ending. Good distance visibility but low ceiling for first hour.
Raptor Observations: Reasonable day considering today's winds conditions historically find the raptors sticking more to the Kittatinny Ridge and not breaking off past this site. Local raptors (BVs, TVs, Bald Eagles, and Red-taileds) all active. It was an excellent kiting day for the local Red-taileds.
Non-raptor Observations: Tree swallow activity especially strong the first 2 1/2 hrs. Chimney swifts also active during that time and some blue jay movement was noted, as well. Small flock (10 birds) of Cedar Waxwing. Goodyear blimp heading west over Harrisburg. Some Fall leaf cover starting to show on the Hellam Hills.
Predictions: Warmer, northerly winds, and mostly sunny. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Parks Volunteer (<parks...>)
