Subject: [nysbirds-l] N.Y. County, NYC - 10/13 - L.-b. Dowitcher, other birds in the storm, etc.
New York County, including Governors, Randalls, Roosevelt, and Manhattan islands and the skies above and adjacent waters -
thru Monday, October 13th -

A rare-for-the-county Long-billed Dowitcher was found and photographed - L. Beausoleil - and also seen by some additional observers at Governors Island, on Monday. Also noted by 3 observers from there on Monday was Royal Tern. Two Forsters Terns seen there again were a less-rare species, although still rather uncommon for this county.

Some general increases of gull numbers was observed Monday, with Laughing Gulls in the mix of very increased species in the storm. Eastern Meadowlark was one of the highlights among passerine birds there, and 2 Forsters Terns also appeared, the latter also seen in other recent days from Governors.

Up at Randalls Island, 2 Wilsons Snipe showed on Monday, and there was as seen elsewhere a strong showing of Laughing Gulls.

A Yellow-breasted Chat was still being seen at Number Three Bryant Park, the small plaza a short way west of the w. side of the actual Bryant Park, thus west of Sixth Ave. in Manhattan, into Monday.

A Connecticut Warbler was ongoing at the Trinity church yard along lower Broadway in lower Manhattan, also thru Monday. An excellent find for Highbridge Park in northern Manhattan was a newer Connecticut Warbler also there on Monday, 10/13, with multiple observers.

At Central Park, at least 11 Green-winged Teal came together on Monday at The Pool in the parks n-w quadrant. There were more than two-dozen Ruddy Ducks scattered thru the parks waterbodies.

Thanks to many observers and photographers for sightings of all sorts of birds in addition to the above noted species, via non-x alert apps and via eBird with the Macaulay Library for media.

Good birding to all,

Tom Fiore
