Many of you are familiar with the youth scholarships offered annually by Western Field Ornithologists. October is this year's fund raising month when enthusiastic birders create Birdathon teams and choose a day to see as many birds as they can as they raise money for the scholarship fund. The Western Field Optimists live in Gig Harbor and will be out in the field October 18. The primary team members are Andy Mauro, Joyce Meyer, Mike West and Rick Machin.
