Hello,
This morning while enjoying a walk at Gate 35 in New Salem I picked up 3 small ducks flying up the reservoir and assumed they were the 3 Green-winged Teal I had watched earlier on an island. Suddenly a Peregrine Falcon flew into my binocular field of view and dove at the ducks, who quickly dropped straight down into the water barely avoiding the Falcon. The Falcon made 3 or 4 more passes at them and each time the teal would dive underwater. The Falcon finally gave up and landed on a nearby island and the teal exited stage left. A great encounter to watch. Elsewhere had a Drake Blue-winged Teal, 4 Semipalmated Plovers, a Great Egret and 9 Horned Larks.
