American Golden-Plover (Pluvialis dominica) (1)

- Comments: "Found by Nick Lethaby. Pluvialis, smaller than black bellied plover. Faint golden tinge to back, crown and hind neck. Some gold on face. Does not have a 'washed' golden appearance, but rather scattered and contrasting black and gold feathers. Strongly contrasting whitish supercilium against darker cap. Ear spot is present but very faint. White on forehead and base of bill. Belly is pale gray with no gold tinge, and contrasts with darker checkered wings. Primaries appear long relative to tail."

Similar to clay colored but colors were more muted, nape was heavily streaked. Possibly a lingering bird from last week."

Seen in flight, as it took off from the reeds towards the planted field in the WNW. Bright yellow coloration, heavily streaked backside, and black cap caught my eye. Simultaneously heard a single soft “bink” flight call note."

Elusive, always low in the vegetation. Seen briefly twice. Greenish-brown back, neck, and crown. White superciliary line was present but not seen well. Underparts streaked. Assumed to be Northern."

- Comments: "Seen and photographed poorly through foliage. Originally entered as a Lazuli Bunting, but after looking at photos I think the blue feathers on the breast and belly make me think it actually was an Indigo Bunting. See photo. I'd be interested in feedback if people have thoughts about the ID."
