Subject: [sbcobirding] Red-breasted Sapsucker at LLC
A Red-breasted Sapsucker has returned (assuming it's the same bird!) to the Pepper Tree where it was seen frequently last winter.  This is the tree on the right side of the path as you head south towards the dam from Stow House at 34.441866, -119.850377.  If you quietly duck under the hanging branches you can get close-up views - the bird is very accommodating.
The Am. Bittern was prominently visible catching dragonflies at the water’s edge opposite the outflow channel (34.441247, -119.847043) for at least 2 hours this morning.  There were also a couple of Sora foraging along the reeds close by the Bittern.
