Steven,
Those are very nice pics of the chukar!
It doesn’t look like you live very far from Whitehall Rd Regional Park. Do you think the chukar that I saw took 2 days to travel over to the park? Your neighbor and I may have seen the same bird. How funny is that?

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all the interesting emails about recent Chukar sightings. There was a Chukar on the driveway of my house in State College on Thursday of last week. I was away from home all day, so I didn't see the bird. My neighbor took photos of the Chukar. The link to my eBird checklist, which includes three nice photos of the Chukar, is https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Febird.org%2Fchecklist%2FS277063134&data=05%7C02%<7CSCBIRDCL...>%7Cdc5933c4470543653a5a08de053e89a6%7C7cf48d453ddb4389a9c1c115526eb52e%7C0%7C0%7C638953963320353564%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=qjjpeLdjzqhYMEC3%2FVhdT70pcgz2GIVUKMnnHM8%2FjgQ%3D&reserved=0.

Just like Karen, the only place that I have seen Chukars in the ABA Area is in Utah. That was at Captial Reef National Park, 31 years ago.

Best wishes,

Steven

Hunters use pen raised quail and chukars for training their hunting dogs. It’s not too unusual to see escapees here and there, especially this time of year.

My question to the group is: Are Chukars being released in PA or are people raising them here? The only other time that I saw one was in Utah back in 2004, before eBird.
