Subject: [ia-bird] Small birds are active south of Boone
With the cool temps, light showers and an influx of migrants behind the
rain band overnight, the yard was more active this afternoon than it has
been in months.

Ruby-crowned Kinglets and Yellow-rumped Warblers were zipping in all
directions. Among them was a late Black-throated Green and a Nashville
Warbler. First seen today were Dark-eyed Juncos and a juvenile
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker.

Still hanging around from the warm spell are a couple of Ruby-throated
Hummingbirds and phoebes and Field Sparrows, a catbird and Rose-breasted
Grosbeak and a bunch of flickers.

It was nice to see the rain too.

Karl Jungbluth, 2 miles south of Boone
