Subject: [sbcobirding] Franceschi Park, Andree Clark Bird Refuge
Hi all,

Yesterday morning I birded for a bit at Franceschi Park, looking for fall
migrants. Like everywhere else this fall, the red gum eucalyptus don't have
many lerps yet, but there were a modest number of migrants. The most
interesting thing was a MacGillivray's Warbler. Also felt like a step up in
Yellow-rumped numbers since the last time I was outside a few days earlier.
I had a steady slow trickle of migrating Turkey Vultures later in the
morning, but no other migrating raptors.

Later I went to Andree Clark. The water has fallen enough to expose a wide
skirt of mud on the north side of the pond, most of which is reasonably
visible from the various wooden observation platforms. Flocks of peeps were
using that area but I couldn't pull out anything other than Western and
Least. Shoveler numbers had jumped back up and a large number of Brown
Pelicans were using the lagoon, too. I didn't see any other duck species
except for Mallard and Ruddy. There was one returned Tropical Kingbird.

Best,
Conor McMahon
