Observation start time: 08:15:00 Observation end time: 12:30:00 Total observation time: 4.25 hours
Official Counter: Phil Keener
Observers: Craig McCoy, Deb Pomraning
Visitors: For a beautiful weekend day in the park, surprisingly few visitors - maybe 25. Jeff Greenawalt specifically came to view migration but birds weren't very cooperative.
Weather: Temp = 14-23C, calm to light wind out of North, cloud cover 5-25%, good visibility.
Raptor Observations: Minimal migrants. All local raptors - TVs, BVs, Bald Eagles, Red-taileds, red-shouldereds, and Coopers all put in appearances.
Non-raptor Observations: Decent blue jay movement throughout day but all small groups, chimney swift activity strong in am. Entertaining but distant and small (maybe 500 birds) murmuration of presumed European starlings - did not see a raptor in that area that may have triggered the murmuration. Yellow-bellied sapsucker.
Predictions: Weather pattern unchanged, likely another challenging day for migrating raptors at this site. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Parks Volunteer (<parks...>)
