Hi MassBirders,

A few people have found exciting species in the past few days. On Thursday morning (day before yesterday), Jason Barcus found a Western Tanager at Mount Auburn. It was seen there again yesterday. Unfortunately, this morning I see at least 5 eBird reports so far from Mt Auburn that do *not* include the tanager, including one from Jason.

Also on Thursday, Steven van der Veen discovered a trio of Bar-tailed Godwits (European subspecies) on Plymouth Beach. Unlike the tanager, the godwits *are* still being reported to eBird this morning. It sounds like they are drawing a bit of a crowd of admirers.

One more, not so chaseable but exciting to hear about, on Tuesday morning the BBC overnight pelagic crossed paths with a Barolo Shearwater near Veatch Canyon. Reportedly will be the 8th state record, if accepted by MARC. The eBird report has a very detailed description but no photos yet, though one photo has been posted in the MA RBA Discord group.
