Subject: [ia-bird] This morning's Harrier Marsh birds
I spent a little more than an hour this morning, struggling through some of
the tall and tough vegetation at Harrier Marsh WMA's prairie. Ended up
with a dozen species, the best being a Northern Harrier (so common here
that it explains the site's name), and 2 LeConte's Sparrows. Also had at
least 10 Swamp Sparrows, 1 Sedge Wren, plus 2 of the latest
Dickcissels I've ever seen here (1 adult and 1 juvenile).
