- Comments: "See photos. Much discussion about the bird, with several experts weighing in that it is a clay-colored--white bold submoustachial stripe, dark malar, relatively large pinkish bill, dullish brown coverts and upper parts, no dark eyeline"

- Comments: "Photos. Spizellas with weak face pattern lacking dark in the lores. Small bill, thin complete eye-ring. One below the first campground and two at the upper campground with a white-crowned sparrow flock."

Stout bill. Was feeding on ground along with white-crowned sparrows. I have some photos I will attach, the greenish doesn’t show up well in the photos, it was faint."
